This song is based on a kundiman. It speaks of a lover who is being seperated from his most adorn: the people.

A poem by the great Filipino proletarian hero Andres Bonifacio serves as the lyrics of this song.

"Tambang" is a local referrence to an ambush. These are organized carefully and implemented with effectivity despite limited equipment and supplies.

What is the peasantry? Is it a remnant of a forgotten feudal past? Is it a kind of lesser beings devoid of dignity? "Tano," the bludgeoned farmer, gives us light how relagated to utter worthlessness the tiller is.
